Welcome to the St. Adalbert’s Basilica Parish Family
On June 1, 2007 as a result of the Journey in Faith & Grace process the following decision of Bishop Edward U. Kmiec regarding the pastoral reorganization of the East Side Cluster of the Southeast Vicariate was announced to the parishioners of St. Adalbert’s Basilica:
“St. Adalbert Parish will merge with St. John Kanty Parish at the St. John Kanty site. The worship site at St. Adalbert Parish will no longer be used, but the Response to Love Center will continue to operate at its current location. The disposition of remaining buildings and property will be left to the discretion of the merged parish. In two years the viability of this situation will be evaluated.”
The Trustees, Parish Council, Parishioners and Friends of St. Adalbert’s could not blindly accept the decision of the Bishop. Thus, the Save Saint Adalbert group was formed. Our website chronicles our efforts to remain open as a parish and worship site. It addresses our concerns that church leaders using the Journey in Faith & Grace process pre -determined that St. Adalbert’s Basilica would close and that steps were taken to ensure that outcome. More importantly, our website is meant to keep you informed and ask you to join us in our Journey in Faith. Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). We believe that the Lord is with us and we hope that you will support and pray for us. Our Journey has just begun…
